As part of its commitment to raising health awareness and enhancing emergency preparedness, Al-Diwaniyah Technical Institute, in collaboration with the Supreme Council for Youth (Youth Ambassadors in Al-Diwaniyah), organized a seminar on First Aid and Handling Critical Situations.
The session was delivered by certified trainer Mr. Murtadha Kazem Al-Shammari from the National Network of Youth Trainers, and attended by Mr. Youssef Al-Qurghuli, representative of the Youth Ambassadors in Al-Diwaniyah, along with several department heads, administrative staff, and a number of students and institute affiliates.
The seminar covered the vital role of a first responder during critical moments, highlighting the significance of first aid, types of emergencies, and how to respond to them effectively. It included demonstrations and explanations of essential medical checks, emergency behavior protocols, and the steps involved in basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), in addition to a general overview of first aid rules.
Assistant Professor Ghanem Owais Abbas, Head of the Division of Nursing Techniques, also contributed with an in-depth discussion on the concept, objectives, and importance of first aid, as well as the contents of a first aid kit. He provided detailed guidance on administering first aid for cardiac arrest, heart attacks, various types of bites, joint sprains, bruises, choking, and minor cuts.
This seminar forms part of the university’s health and safety awareness and training plan. It reflects the university’s ongoing efforts to build the competencies of its students and staff by equipping them with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to respond to emergencies effectively until professional medical help becomes available.
