The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Polytechnic – Al-Qadisiyah, in cooperation with the Department of Accounting Techniques, held a seminar titled ‘Women: The Primary Victims of Cyber Extortion.’ The seminar was presented by Eng. Samaher Sadiq Ali, Eng. Sara Basim Abdul, and Eng. Saif Bassam

The seminar included:

“The seminar included a definition of cyber extortion as one of the most dangerous forms of digital violence faced by women, highlighting its various forms, methods, and the ways the online space is exploited to target victims. The seminar further examined the social and psychological factors that make women more vulnerable to this type of crime, in addition to outlining the profound effects of extortion on the victim, including psychological, ethical, and familial aspects.

The seminar also addressed the role of security and legal institutions in combating this phenomenon, including reporting mechanisms and victim protection. Additionally, it discussed the role of the family, society, and schools in promoting digital awareness and empowering women to use technology safely and responsibly.

The seminar concluded with practical proposals to enhance online protection and to build a supportive digital culture that reduces the risk of extortion and provides a safe environment for women in the digital space
