Under the patronage of the Dean of Al-Qadisiyah Polytechnic College, Professor Dr. Zaki Muhammad Abbas Bahya, the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technologies organized a cultural festival titled “Together Towards a Secure Future for Building Iraq.” The event was attended by students from the department and supervised by a distinguished group of faculty members. This festival aimed to emphasize the role of youth and academic energies in contributing to the development of the nation and enhancing its developmental path. The event was attended by the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, Professor Dr. Ahmed Hashem Yusuf, as well as several department heads, staff, and students.

The festival commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an and the reading of Al-Fatiha in tribute to the souls of Iraq’s martyrs, in recognition of their sacrifices and to honor their memory.

The festival featured a speech by Dr. Farah Kamel Abdul Muslim, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technologies, who welcomed the guests and praised the organizers and participating students. She emphasized the importance of active participation and serious contribution to building a safe and stable society, highlighting the role of academic institutions in educating students and motivating them to take on their national responsibilities.

The event also featured a lecture by Lieutenant Hassan Mahmoud Sharmahi, an officer from the Directorate of Drug Control and Mental Health in Diwaniya. He delivered a awareness lecture on the role of informed youth in combating the drug epidemic that threatens society. He presented a series of recommendations and guidelines aimed at protecting students and the community from the dangers of this phenomenon. He also commended the festival’s theme for its significant message within the university community, urging students to play an active role in building Iraq.

The festival concluded with a theatrical performance by the students, which portrayed the importance of raising awareness among youth about the dangers of negative phenomena and the necessity of addressing them through awareness, culture, and social responsibility.
