The Department of Health Administration Technologies at the Polytechnic College – Al-Qadisiyah, Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, organized a scientific seminar entitled “Entrepreneurship and Its Role in Achieving Sustainable Economic Development,” with the participation of a number of department staff members.

The seminar was moderated by Assistant Lecturer Ahlam Marza Sakhil, Assistant Lecturer Amal Swadi Kashmar, and Assistant Lecturer Zeinab Youssef. It included several important scientific topics, the key ones being:

  1. The seminar addressed the definition of sustainable entrepreneurship and highlighted its differences from traditional entrepreneurship by focusing on the three dimensions (environment, society, economy).
  2. The economic and social impact of entrepreneurship and its role in supporting the green economy.
  3. Empowering entrepreneurship, the challenges it faces, and proposed solutions to enhance it.

The seminar concluded with a number of recommendations, the most important of which were the need to update legal frameworks to facilitate the registration of start-up companies that adopt sustainability standards, integrating the concepts of sustainable entrepreneurship into university and technical curricula, and supporting digital transformation. It also called for encouraging the use of technologies such as artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things to improve production efficiency and reduce waste.

The recommendations also emphasized the importance of providing a supportive environment through legislation, government policies, and sustainable financing mechanisms, such as venture capital, angel investment, and green loans, which contribute to supporting innovation and achieving sustainable development.

At the conclusion of the seminar, it was emphasized that addressing the challenges discussed and improving both the professional and academic realities in line with global standards is of critical importance.
