The Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics Technologies at the Polytechnic College – Al-Qadisiyah, one of the formations of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, held a scientific course entitled “Using the CAD Program for Prosthetic Limb Design,” with the participation of a number of staff members and students of the department.
The course was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Hassan Bayouwi, Assistant Lecturer Thamar Ali Abdul Amir, and Assistant Lecturer Nujud Abdul Yasser, who provided a detailed explanation of the mechanism for using the program in designing prosthetic limbs and its practical applications.
The course included several topics, including an introduction to the (CAD) program and its advantages in the field of prosthetics manufacturing, methods of taking measurements using both traditional and modern techniques, the mechanism for data entry and implementation, as well as clarification of the steps involved in designing the socket and mechanical components such as the pylon, the joint, and the foot base.
The course aims to develop the participants’ skills in digital design and to keep pace with modern technological developments in a way that enhances the practical aspect of the prosthetics manufacturing specialization.
