The Department of Forensic Evidence Technologies at Al-Qadisiyah Polytechnic College, a formation of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University (ATU), organized a scientific workshop titled: “Digital Evidence and Cyber Investigations.”

The workshop was presented by Assistant Lecturer Maryam Alaa Abdul-Hussein and Assistant Lecturer Noor Qasim Hussein, in the presence of several staff members and students. The presenters covered several scientific themes focused on the importance of digital evidence and its role in modern criminal investigations. The key themes were as follows:

  • First Theme: The nature and characteristics of digital evidence, and its significance in criminal proof amidst technological advancements.
  • Second Theme: Steps of Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR), starting from evidence collection through analysis to documentation and presentation.
  • Third Theme: Cyber investigation tools and techniques, including a review of the most prominent software used in detecting electronic crimes.
  • Fourth Theme: Challenges and obstacles facing specialists in the digital field, including cross-border crimes and the continuous evolution of hacking methods.
  • Fifth Theme: Legal and ethical aspects related to handling digital evidence to ensure its integrity and credibility before judicial authorities.

At the conclusion of the workshop, the presenters emphasized the importance of developing the skills of students and staff in the field of cyber investigations to keep pace with the rapid progression of digital crimes and to enhance the efficiency of forensic work.
