Under the patronage of the Dean of Al-Polytechnic College – Al-Qadisiyah, Professor Dr. Zaki Mohammed Abbas Bahiyah, the Media and Government Communication Division, in cooperation with the Recovery Organization—coordinated with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research within the framework of the Addiction Prevention Initiative—organized an awareness seminar entitled “The Dangers of Addiction and Methods of Prevention.” The seminar targeted college students with the aim of raising awareness about the risks of this phenomenon and limiting its spread.

The seminar was delivered by certified trainer Ali Al-Waeli, who presented a comprehensive lecture addressing the health, social, and psychological risks of addiction, as well as the main factors leading to it. He also highlighted prevention strategies, early intervention methods, and mechanisms for dealing with at-risk cases.

The seminar further emphasized the role of universities in promoting community awareness and supporting national programs aimed at protecting youth from this phenomenon. The Recovery Organization team also provided an overview of their awareness programs implemented in coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education to reduce the risks of addiction within the university environment.

The seminar underscored the importance of fostering a healthy and safe university environment that supports students and equips them with adequate awareness to prevent risky behaviors, enabling them to make sound and informed decisions. The event also included an open discussion session, allowing students to raise questions and inquiries in an interactive setting designed to clarify key preventive aspects related to addiction.

At the conclusion of the seminar, the College Deanship expressed its gratitude and appreciation to trainer Ali Al-Waeli and the Recovery Organization for their outstanding efforts, affirming continued cooperation in implementing joint awareness programs that serve students and the wider community.
