Under the executive plan of the National Strategy for Iraqi Women (Paragraph 1 / Pillar 2), the Women’s Affairs Unit at Al-Qadisiyah Polytechnic College—a constituent of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University—organized a workshop titled: “Women’s Economic Empowerment: From Idea to Funding.” The session was held in collaboration with the Department of Business Administration and presented by Dr. Saadia Hilal, Assistant Lecturer Mohammed Mousa, and Assistant Lecturer Sarah Basim.

Objectives and Significance

The workshop emphasized that economic empowerment is a cornerstone for achieving sustainable development and enhancing women’s roles within society. The discussions focused on the methodology of transforming simple concepts into viable, productive projects.

The presentations covered several vital stages of entrepreneurship, including:

• Idea Generation: Mechanisms for identifying entrepreneurial ideas by studying market needs and investing in personal skills.

• Business Planning: Fundamentals of setting objectives, identifying target audiences, and conducting feasibility and cost studies.

• Project Management: Training on essential skills such as marketing, financial management, and effective communication.

• Digital Integration: Highlighting the importance of utilizing technology and social media platforms for brand promotion.

Funding and Financial Support

A significant portion of the workshop was dedicated to exploring available funding sources for women, including microloans, grants, and government support. Practical guidance was provided on preparing comprehensive financing profiles to increase the likelihood of approval.
