The Women’s Affairs Unit at the Al-Qadisiyah Polytechnic College, a constituent of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, in collaboration with the Department of Insurance Techniques and the Family Counseling Center of the Holy Abbasid Shrine, organized an awareness seminar titled: “The Female University Student: Ambition Shaping the Future and Pressures Creating Challenges.”
The seminar was moderated by Ms. Rehab Kareem Hadi, Coordinator of the Women’s Affairs Unit, and featured lectures by Dr. Salima Najm Abdullah, Ms. Ibtisam Al-Mahna, and trainer Zainab Al-Khafaji.
The seminar addressed the reality of female university students and the delicate balance they maintain between their high aspirations for success and self-actualization, and the multifaceted pressures—academic, psychological, and social—encountered during their educational journey.
Furthermore, the session highlighted the importance of students possessing a clear vision and specific goals to build their future, emphasizing that ambition is only realized through consistent effort, discipline, and self-confidence. It also discussed key challenges such as academic workload, exam anxiety, and societal expectations, alongside essential time-management skills.
The seminar focused on the role of self-awareness in empowering students to understand their capabilities, address their weaknesses, and transform pressures into positive motivation that drives progress rather than hindering it.
Additionally, the speakers underscored the significance of familial and institutional support, particularly from counseling centers, in providing a safe environment that encourages students to express their challenges and find appropriate solutions.
The seminar concluded by affirming that female university students are capable of forging their own futures through willpower. It emphasized that challenges are merely learning milestones that refine personality and enhance capabilities when approached with positivity and awareness.
