Kurdistan Region, Iraq — The activities of the 1st International Scientific Conference officially commenced this morning, Wednesday, April 22, 2026. The conference, titled “Engineering and Science for Sustainable Development Goals (ESNSD2026),” is held under the auspices of the Ministries of Higher Education and Scientific Research of both the Iraqi Federal Government and the Kurdistan Region.
Organized by Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University (ATU) under the supervision of its President, Professor Dr. Hassan Latif Al-Zubaidi, the event is held in strategic partnership with Erbil Polytechnic University at the Shaqlawa Technical College.

The conference features a collaborative effort spearheaded by several of ATU’s prominent institutions:
• Al-Qadisiyah Polytechnic College
• Technical Engineering College of Najaf
• Al-Rumaitha Technical Institute
This international gathering aims to foster academic exchange and highlight the role of technical education in achieving global sustainability goals.
