Vision
The Educational Guidance Unit at Al-Diwaniyah Technical Institute aspires to provide distinguished academic guidance services based on scientific foundations. It aims to offer training, counseling, and guidance programs, as well as services to help achieve the academic success and adjustment of all students, including those facing academic challenges, high achievers, gifted individuals, and students with special needs. The unit seeks to identify their potential and assist them in overcoming any obstacles to their progress.
Mission
The Educational Guidance Unit is committed to providing training, counseling, and academic programs, along with guidance and psychological consultation services. It also aims to support academically outstanding students, recognize and care for individual differences, and provide tailored support for each student’s unique needs.
Objectives
The unit aims to monitor and address student issues, finding appropriate solutions in collaboration with educational counselors. It seeks to address unacceptable behaviors within the student community by raising awareness and encouraging individual initiatives. The unit will also implement annual programs to support high-achieving students, follow up on cases of academic delays and absenteeism, run preventive programs, and actively participate in community activities.
Addressing Cases of Delays and Absenteeism: Managing cases of student delays and absenteeism by meeting with the students to understand the reasons behind these issues and addressing them appropriately. If the issue persists, implementing the central regulations and instructions.
Collaboration with Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University and Other Iraqi Universities and Institutes: Establishing connections with Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, other universities, and institutes in Iraq. This includes the possibility of hosting specialized lecturers in human development to deliver lectures for both Lecturers and students.
Developing Preventive and Therapeutic Guidance Programs: Designing and implementing guidance programs aimed at supporting gifted students, high achievers, and students with special needs, focusing on both preventive and therapeutic aspects.
Identifying Stage Advisors According to Academic Divisions:
Designate academic advisors for each stage of study, based on the divisions in the institute, to ensure appropriate guidance for students at each level.
Holding Regular Meetings with First and Second-Year Students:
Organize periodic meetings with first- and second-year students to provide them with guidance, address their concerns, and offer academic support.
Periodic Meetings with Lecturers who are Representatives of Academic Stages via Google Meet:
Conduct regular virtual meetings with faculty members representing each academic stage, using Google Meet, to facilitate ongoing communication and collaboration regarding student guidance.
Weekly Meetings with Heads of Guidance Committees in All Academic Divisions:
Hold weekly meetings with Lecturers responsible for the guidance committees in all academic divisions to strengthen communication methods with students and ensure effective guidance delivery.
Coordinating with Lecturers Representing the Guidance Unit to Resolve Student Issues:
Coordinate with Lecturers of the guidance unit to address and resolve any issues raised by students that are referred to the unit.
