The Academic Promotions Unit is the body responsible in universities and colleges for supervising and organizing the process of promoting faculty members from one academic rank to another, such as from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor. The unit receives promotion requests, verifies the fulfillment of requirements, monitors the evaluation of research, forwards the requests to the relevant authorities, and maintains organized records. Its aim is to ensure the application of quality standards and academic rigor in the promotion process, in accordance with the instructions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Receiving and Verifying Requests: The unit receives promotion requests from academic departments and verifies them to ensure they are complete.
Coordinating the Evaluation Process: It sends promotion research and materials to experts for evaluation and monitors their return.
Organizing Records: The unit maintains organized records to preserve promotion files and related information.
