Objective

Providing an integrated digital environment that enables fast and reliable access to knowledge resources, and contributes to supporting scientific research and lifelong learning by offering diverse and user-friendly content accessible to everyone through modern digital technologies.

Providing advanced information services that enable students and researchers to access knowledge resources easily, and supporting the educational process and scientific research through the use of modern digital technologies.

Tasks

  • Providing information resources related to the educational programs taught at the university in both traditional and electronic formats.
  • Issuing a library ID card for students free of charge.
  • Organizing internal and external borrowing procedures according to the electronic borrowing system.
  • Conducting periodic inventory and cataloging of books, resources, and theses.
  • Receiving and sending mail and responding to incoming correspondence.
  • Participating in activities of scientific and humanities departments and workshops.
  • Hosting events organized by the institute within the library.
  • Providing a reading hall for students to conduct research and study in a quiet academic environment.
  • Following up on incoming books and conducting inventory entry and exit procedures.
  • Updating library resources and supplying the library with modern books.
  • Assisting students in conducting their research by providing scientific resources.
  • Maintaining the library environment and caring for the surrounding facilities.
  • Following up on e-mail daily.
  • Supervising sub-libraries of scientific and humanities departments.
  • Participating in the annual or sudden inventory of books.
  • Following up on the medical journal (Henry) in cooperation with the Community Health Department.
  • Following up on establishing electronic libraries for scientific and humanities departments.
  • Monitoring library periodicals and publications.

Library Regulations and Instructions

  • The library provides its services to faculty members, students, and staff.
  • A library ID card with a personal photo is issued for each beneficiary.
  • Borrowing is allowed only for the cardholder.
  • The borrowing period for faculty members is one week with a maximum of five books.
  • The borrowing period for postgraduate students is five days with a maximum of three books.
  • The borrowing period for students and staff is three days with one book only.
  • No external borrowing is allowed for postgraduate students outside Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University.
  • A late fee of 250 IQD per day per book is charged for faculty members and staff.
  • A late fee of 100 IQD per day per book is charged for students.
  • If a book is lost or damaged, the borrower must pay double the book price.
