Fundamentals of Nursing Laboratory
The Fundamentals of Nursing Laboratory is a simulated educational environment equipped with medical devices, tools, and training mannequins to help nursing students practice essential clinical skills such as measuring vital signs, wound care, and intravenous cannulation before applying them to real patients in hospitals.
The laboratory aims to build students’ confidence, develop their practical competence, and bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application to ensure safe and effective nursing care.

Laboratory Objectives
- Providing a safe environment for practical training where mistakes can be repeated and corrected without harming patients.
- Training students in a variety of basic nursing skills including:
- Measuring vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration).
- Wound care, suturing, and dressing.
- Administering injections and inserting intravenous cannulas.
- Catheter care.
- Enhancing students’ skills and building confidence in using medical devices and equipment.
- Developing professional behavior when dealing with patients, their families, and the healthcare team.
- Preparing students to smoothly integrate into clinical and hospital environments.
Importance of the Laboratory
- Bridging the gap between theory and practice: Allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting.
- Ensuring safety and quality: Reducing the risk of errors before moving to real clinical training.
- Skill development: Helping students develop essential nursing competencies.
- Supportive learning environment: Providing opportunities for practice, feedback, and skill improvement.
