Occupational health and safety laboratory

The Occupational Health & Safety Laboratory is a specialized unit within an organization that conducts systematic studies and analyses of factors that may harm workers’ health and safety. Its purpose is to protect people, machines, and materials, and to provide a safe, risk-free work environment. These studies include assessing the workplace, providing personal protective equipment, establishing safety procedures, and training staff on how to handle potential hazards in laboratories and industrial/production sites.

• Provide a safe and healthy work environment: Ensure the workplace is free from chemical, biological, and physical hazards that may affect workers’ health.
• Protect employees: Prevent accidents and occupational diseases resulting from workplace hazards.
• Ensure continuity of production: Protect human, machine, and material resources to maintain work efficiency and production continuity.
• Compliance with international and local standards: Adhere to local and international occupational health and safety regulations, such as OSHA standards.

• Risk analysis: Conduct systematic studies to identify and assess potential workplace hazards.
• Establish safety protocols: Define and implement standard safety procedures, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Provide safety equipment: Equip labs with safety tools such as fire alarms, extinguishers, and first aid kits.
• Training & Awareness: Educate staff on health and safety through guidelines and instructions.
• Handling hazardous materials: Special procedures for dealing with chemicals, hazardous, flammable, and explosive materials.
