As part of the executive plan for the National Strategy for Iraqi Women (Item 2 / Pillar 4), the Women’s Affairs Unit at Al-Qadisiyah Technical College, in cooperation with the Health Administration Department, organized a seminar titled “Emotional Intelligence and Its Role in Building Successful Relationships.” The session was presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Muammal Hussein, Dr. Diana Neama, and Ms. Nada Ahmed Fayrouz.

The seminar explored the concept of Emotional Intelligence (EI) as the ability to understand and positively manage one’s own emotions and the emotions of others to enhance communication and build healthy relationships. It emphasized that EI is a fundamental element of social and professional success, being no less important than cognitive intelligence (IQ).

The session also included an explanation of the key components of emotional intelligence, such as self-awareness, emotional regulation, empathy, and communication skills. It highlighted the role of these skills in reducing conflict, increasing mutual understanding, and fostering trust among individuals.

Furthermore, the seminar addressed the importance of emotional intelligence in building successful relationships at familial, academic, and professional levels through active listening skills, respecting diverse opinions, and maintaining a balanced approach to pressure.

The seminar concluded with several recommendations, most notably: the importance of developing emotional intelligence skills through continuous training, promoting a culture of dialogue, and spreading awareness about emotional management to achieve psychological and social stability.
