The project represents a pioneering step toward transforming lands unsuitable for agriculture into green spaces that support both the environmental and aesthetic aspects of the campus.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project comprises several key phases, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Soil scraping and removal of saline layers and waterlogged, nutrient-deficient soil, replacing them with layers suitable for cultivation.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Implementation of a modern groundwater drainage system beneath the soil surface to eliminate excess water resulting from rainfall infiltration and rising groundwater levels.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Construction of dedicated water storage tanks for irrigating plants and green areas, in addition to tanks for rainwater and groundwater pumping stations.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Introduction of an advanced subsurface sprinkler irrigation system, recognized as an efficient and water-saving method, simulating artificial rainfall and replacing traditional flood irrigation, which wastes large quantities of water.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">During his inspection tour, the Dean emphasized that the project represents a qualitative leap in the college\u2019s infrastructure, achieving two parallel objectives: enhancing the campus environment and providing sustainable green spaces, while promoting water conservation through the adoption of modern irrigation technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The project is a continuation of initiatives launched by the previous college administration, with the current Dean, Professor Dr. Zaki Muhammad Abbas Bahieh, overseeing its implementation and development in alignment with the sustainable development goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Accompanying the Dean during the tour were the college\u2019s assistants as well as the engineering and technical staff supervising the project, including Engineer Majid Hassan, Head of the Maintenance and Services Division, and Engineer Haider Abbas Aziz.
