The Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics Technologies, in cooperation with the Student Activities Unit at Al-Qadisiyah Polytechnic College, organized a scientific workshop entitled “Sports and Their Relationship to Mental Health Among Iraqi University Students,” attended by a number of staff members and technicians.
The workshop was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Rasha Hussein Ahmed and Assistant Lecturer Zaid Mohammed Kazem, who highlighted the importance of sports and their effective role in enhancing mental health and achieving psychological and physical balance among university students.
The workshop addressed the following key topics:
- Introducing the concept of sports and their importance to human health.
- Discussing the concept of mental health and its relationship to sports practices.
- Clarifying the impact and effects of sports on university students.
- Identifying the main positive aspects of various types of sports activities.
- Recognizing the most common sports practiced by university students and their effects on mental health.
At the conclusion of the workshop, emphasis was placed on the importance of encouraging students to engage in sports activities as an effective means of improving mental health, given their positive role in enhancing concentration and academic achievement, as well as reducing psychological stress that university students may encounter.
