Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Zaki Mohammed Abbas Bahiya, Dean of the College, and supervised by Assistant Lecturer Mijal Kazem Al-Aboudi, Head of the Scientific Division, in collaboration with the Women’s Affairs Unit and the Department of Medical Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy Technologies, Polytechnic College – Al-Qadisiyah, one of the formations of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, concluded the activities celebrating the International Day for the Prevention of Violent Extremism Leading to Terrorism. The event included a series of awareness activities aimed at spreading the culture of moderation and rejecting extremist thought within the academic community.
At the conclusion of the celebration, Dean Professor Dr. Zaki Mohammed Abbas Bahiya delivered a closing speech, attended by the College Vice Deans, Heads of Departments, and a number of staff members. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of this vital topic and the need to instill values of moderation and tolerance within the academic community. He stressed the continued scientific and awareness efforts that contribute to enhancing intellectual security among students.
The Dean also encouraged faculty members to incorporate concepts of moderation and combating extremism into scientific activities and awareness programs within the College, reinforcing the educational institution’s role in shaping balanced personalities capable of confronting contemporary intellectual challenges.
As part of the awareness-raising initiative, informative brochures were distributed throughout the College to highlight the dangers of violent extremism and its negative impact on individuals and society. This action reaffirmed the College’s commitment to its educational role in building a generation that is aware, intellectually fortified, and contributes to promoting values of stability and societal peace.
