The Department of Nursing Technologies at the Polytechnic College – Al-Qadisiyah, one of the formations of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, held a scientific seminar entitled “Gastric Bleeding Among Youth: Causes, Symptoms, Treatment, and Prevention,” with the attendance of a number of students.
The seminar was delivered by Assistant Professor Ghanem Awaiz Abbas, Head of the Department, and Lecturer Dr. Baraa Jalil Saad. The seminar addressed the concept of gastric bleeding and its common causes among young people, most notably peptic ulcers resulting from infection with stomach bacteria or due to the excessive use of certain medications.
The seminar also highlighted the most important symptoms associated with gastric bleeding, such as bloody vomiting, black stools, as well as dizziness, abdominal pain, and anemia in some cases. In addition, the lecturers explained the diagnostic methods adopted for early detection of the condition, including laboratory tests and endoscopic examination.
The speakers emphasized the importance of health awareness and prevention by avoiding the random use of medications, maintaining a healthy diet, and consulting a physician when symptoms appear, due to their significant role in reducing complications and preserving individual health.
