The President of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, Professor Dr. Hassan Lateef Al-Zubaidi, inaugurated several new construction and academic projects at the Polytechnic College – Al-Qadisiyah. The inauguration was attended by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Zaki Muhammad Abbas Bahiah, along with several deans of the university’s divisions, associate deans, heads of scientific departments and units, and staff members.

The opening ceremony witnessed the presence of the Governor of Al-Diwaniyah, Mr. Abbas Shuaيل Al-Zamili, His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Humam Hamoudi, Head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, and Mr. Muhannad Al-Hasani, Assistant Governor for Service Affairs, alongside several officials, dignitaries, and representatives of government departments in the governorate.

The projects included opening the new building for the Prosthetics and Orthotics Techniques Department, which features two modern tiered lecture halls, the department’s chairmanship, and administrative offices. Additionally, the Deanship building was inaugurated following its rehabilitation and development to align with academic and administrative requirements, providing an appropriate educational environment for students and staff.

Following the ceremony, an expanded meeting was held during which the University President reviewed the prominent achievements made by the university and its various divisions, as well as its plans aimed at developing the educational and research environment. He affirmed the university presidency’s commitment to supporting colleges and scientific departments, providing all requirements for the success of the educational process to keep pace with modern advancements in technical education.

For his part, His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Humam Hamoudi praised the scientific and academic role played by the university and its colleges in serving the community, emphasizing his readiness to support initiatives and projects that contribute to developing educational institutions and strengthening their role in preparing national competencies.

The Governor of Al-Diwaniyah also asserted his support for Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University and its branches. He noted the local government’s keen interest in following up on the staff’s needs and reviewing their requests, including those related to allocating residential land plots for the college personnel to help ensure job and social stability for this vital segment.

In turn, the Dean of the Polytechnic College – Al-Qadisiyah, Professor Dr. Zaki Muhammad Abbas Bahiah, welcomed the esteemed attendees, expressing his gratitude and appreciation to the University President and the honored guests for participating in this event. He emphasized that the completed projects represent a significant step forward in the college’s infrastructure development and the creation of an integrated academic environment that raises the scientific and service standards offered to its students.

At the conclusion of the visit, the attendees conducted a field tour through the college corridors and the completed projects, praising the efforts made in developing infrastructure and elevating the academic reality, while stressing the importance of continued work and mutual cooperation to support technical education and serve the people of Al-Diwaniyah Governorate.
